Graduations

At the conclusion of each course, sponsors typically hold a special ceremony commending graduates on their achievements during training. Through the 2007 training year, the USTTI has graduated 7,524 women and men who are working to bring modern communications to 166 countries around the world.

Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business, and Agricultural Affairs Josette S. Shiner (center) honored the USTTI's 7,000th and 7,001st graduates, Ms. Malalai Hiela Safi and Ms. Ogai Ahmadi, of Kabul, Afghanistan at a ceremony in her office. Also joining the Under Secretary were Ambassador David A. Gross ( far right), U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy, U.S. Department of State, and USTTI Chairman Ambassador Michael R. Gardner.

New USTTI alumni from The Gambia, India, Ghana, Zambia, and Kenya celebrate their graduation from WHUT-TV training with the outstanding training staff of Howard University Television.

6000th Graduate
Dr. Cashile Thelma Kuzwayo, the USTTI's 6,000th graduate (center) was honored with a special certificate presented to her by FCC Chairman Michael Powell (right) and USTTI Chairman Michael R. Gardner (left). Dr. Kuzwayo attended intensive USTTI telemedicine training provided by Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Johns Hopkins University, the Office for the Advancement of Telehealth and the University of Virginia.
